On April 27, 2026, the Amherst City Council voted unanimously to adopt an emergency appropriations ordinance amending Ordinance O 26 10 to make appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures for the fiscal year ending Dec. 31, 2026.
The clerk read the ordinance language into the record: "An ordinance amending city Of Amherst ordinance number o 26 10 to make appropriations for current expenses and other expenditures in the city of Amherst, State Of Ohio during the fiscal year ending 12/31/2026, repealing all ordinances in conflict here with and declaring an emergency," after which a councilor moved to suspend council rules to allow adoption on first reading. The motion to suspend was approved by roll call and the adoption vote carried 6 to 0. The ordinance was assigned O 26 16.
The suspension-and-adoption procedure means the ordinance takes effect immediately as declared in the emergency clause. Council did not discuss line-item amounts during the public meeting; the clerk had previously distributed the March financial reports to council members for review. No amendments were offered on the floor.
