The commission approved an amended five-year intergovernmental agreement with the Warrenton Rural Fire District to provide fire protection and emergency services. Fire Chief Brian presented the updated agreement and said the draft clarifies who is responsible for fire hydrants inside the rural fire district; Chief Brian said the district has funding to pay for service and can add two new hydrants and perform routine maintenance.
Commissioners asked whether the city would face liability if the district were sued; staff said it depends on the case but noted the rural district is a separate entity and that liability would turn on the nature of the claim. After discussion the commission moved and approved the amended IGA by voice vote.
