The commission adopted Resolution 2729 to modify the authorized uses of the facilities maintenance fund. Finance Director Jessica Barrett explained the update removes Head Start from the listed uses and replaces it with a broader category of "city owned buildings not maintained by enterprise fund revenues," so the fund can support maintenance and capital improvements for municipal buildings, parks, the library and the community center.
Barrett said the change was intended to avoid revising the resolution every time the city purchases a new property. "This fund will be used to accumulate funds for maintenance and capital improvements of the municipal building, park facilities, library, community center," Barrett said, noting the amendment also clarifies that enterprise-funded properties (such as marinas or public works facilities funded by their own fees) are not included. The motion to adopt Resolution 2729 carried.
