Council approves updated planning and public-works fee schedule after staff presentation

Staff presented an update to Wood Village's master fee schedule for planning and public works, saying many fees had not been comprehensively updated since 2005 and that contracted planner rates and staff time now justify higher charges. The presenter noted Robin with Urban Lens bills at about $154 per hour and that the city set a minimum design-review fee to cover actual planner time. "The last comprehensive fee update we did was in 2005," the presenter said.
Council members asked detailed questions about how appeals fees are calculated (staff said an appeal carries a 0.5 multiple of the original application fee to cover review work), and about increases to temporary-use permits (staff characterized the change as a roughly $100 increase for a type-1 permit). The presenter also explained public-works updates including an erosion-control application fee aligned to neighboring cities and revisions to curb-cut and post-construction stormwater-review fees to better reflect staff time. Staff said large, infrequent projects such as a town-center master plan would be charged actual cost or cost-plus as needed.
Councilor motioned and seconded approval of Resolution 28-2025, updating planning and public-works fees. The motion carried with no recorded opposition.
