City manager: $76,000 EECBG grant will fund two downtown EV charging stations; Year Out/ESG still contractor on change order

At the briefing the city manager explained a contract change order being considered for the fire department headquarters project is connected to the city's Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant (EECBG) work and the installation of electric vehicle charging stations. "That grant application... was for $76,000 which is for the electric vehicle charging stations," the city manager said, and said staff plans two Level 2 chargers behind the Chamber of Commerce building.
Council members asked why the change order and the EV charging work were shown on the same line item. The manager said the original contract approved by council included execution of the EECBG grant and coordination of charging-station implementation; the contract also covered design work for the fire department headquarters and related community spaces. When asked about the contractor's name, the manager explained the company was originally called Year Out and does business as ESG.
No final action on the change order or the grant installation was recorded during the briefing; the items were previewed for the council and will appear on the regular council agenda for consideration.
