Benbrook approves emergency medical services contract with AMR after Acadian staffing shortfall

Jackie Hartman, EMS Division Chief, told the council that Acadian, the city’s prior EMS contractor, became unable to meet the terms of its agreement in January 2026 because of staffing shortages and other operational constraints. Hartman said staff identified American Medical Response (AMR) as a qualified provider able to assume service responsibilities and recommended council approval of an agreement for AMR to provide emergency medical services and citywide backup support.
Hartman told the council, “Acadian became unable to meet the terms of the contract and agreement due to staffing shortages and other operational constraints,” and recommended approval of the AMR agreement. Council member Franklin moved to approve the emergency medical services agreement with AMR; Tyner seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Hartman also noted AMR representatives were in the audience to show their commitment to the city.
