Executive director reports email compromise; fraudulent ACH payments under investigation

Julie Strandberg, executive director for the Chiropractic Physicians' Board of Nevada, reported her email was compromised and that a fraudster sent invoices to the Board's accountant, resulting in ACH payments on fraudulent invoices. Ms. Strandberg said Nevada State Bank is investigating to recover the ACH transactions and that she and the bookkeeper used a shared Dropbox previously used for payments.
As an immediate procedural change, the Board agreed to implement a policy requiring the Secretary-Treasurer to review and sign off on payables before the executive director uploads files to the bookkeeper for payment. The Board framed this as an internal-control step to reduce the risk of future fraudulent payments.
