Economic Development staff presented the next phase of a previously approved redevelopment grant to prepare a property near North Industrial Boulevard and the Airport Freeway for redevelopment. Staff said tenants have leases expiring on June 30, asbestos abatement is under contract for $47,530, and Lloyd Neighbors Demolition was authorized for demolition at $148,000 — collectively well under the previously approved $300,000 grant cap.
Council discussed timing and the intended effect of clearing the site to improve highway visibility for adjacent redevelopment (Sprouts and other tenants) and to support a larger market project. Staff estimated demolition work could begin after abatement is complete and tenants vacate, likely late July to early August. The motion to authorize execution of the demolition contract passed unanimously.
