Wastewater plant nears substantial completion; trunk-line rehab and manhole work planned

Wastewater staff reported the city's wastewater treatment-plant project is approaching substantial completion and that associated sewer projects are scheduled in the five-year CIP.
"Our wastewater treatment plant, we're just under a year away from substantial completion," the utilities presenter said, listing completed and in-progress components (lift station, headworks, screens, pumps, sludge dewatering, aeration-basins and RAS/WAS improvements) and noting remaining items for the coming year.
Staff said manhole rehabilitation will continue in coordination with sewer-line work, that smoke testing is planned (with a push in Del Norte), and that a main gravity trunk-line into the plant has been targeted for design this year and construction in 2029. Staff emphasized sequencing wastewater work with street rehab to minimize repeated excavation of recently repaired roads.
The presentation closed with staff offering to return with more specific schedules and to coordinate priorities with grant opportunities and other capital projects.
