EDC approves $2,500 sponsorship for city’s FIFA-themed July 4 celebration

The Balch Springs Industrial and Economic Development Corporation agreed April 20 to contribute up to $2,500 toward marketing for a July 4 celebration that will include a FIFA-themed element tied to games being hosted in the Dallas area. Jessica Lucero, Director of the Community Experience Department, told the board the event will combine traditional Fourth of July activities with family-oriented football (soccer) programming and that the EDC logo would appear on jerseys and promotional materials.
Lucero said the total sponsorship is $5,000 and the Type A board was being asked to cover up to half the cost from the advertising and promotion line item. "We're just 15 minutes away from the big fanfare that Dallas is putting on for all these FIFA games," Lucero said. A board member moved the item, it was seconded, and the board approved the $2,500 sponsorship by roll-call vote. Staff said arrangements for shirts and coordination with city and Type B partners will follow.
