Council voted to authorize staff to submit a two-step Texas Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Main Street downtown revitalization application to the Texas Department of Agriculture and to commit to a 5% local match if the city advances to the full application. Gabriel (speaker 12) told council the initial application is due April 3 and that a full award could be $1,000,000 with a proposed city match up to $50,000.
"...as part of this initial, application submission, we need authorization from council to submit the application and also commit to the 5% match," Gabriel said, adding staff included the maximum match amount in the packet. Council approved the resolution by voice vote. Staff will proceed with the April 3 submission and, if invited, develop the full application and budget justification.
