Bay City council voted to approve a resolution authorizing a downtown facade improvements and resiliency program funded through Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) No. 1 participation. City manager (speaker 6) said the TIRZ board recommended a $100,000 allocation to encourage redevelopment and assist property owners with code compliance.
"This was the second time, but on February 26, the TIRZ board recommended approval of this program and allocated a $100,000," the city manager said, adding the program can assist with façade grants and offset state-required surveys such as asbestos and windstorm provisions. Council approved the resolution by voice vote with no recorded opposition. The program will be administered by the city's Main Street department in coordination with the Main Street advisory board, code enforcement, and planning departments.
