During the district’s budget presentation, the business presenter (Katie) described enrollment trends and the financial choices that shaped the 2026–27 proposal. She said the district produced a net‑zero budget and that the ending fund balance gives “45 days plus of expenses,” below the auditor’s recommended 60 days. Katie described several staffing decisions, saying the proposal reduces positions by not replacing six positions, largely through attrition, and will rely on student teachers and staff reassignments to preserve continuity.
Katie said the district trimmed materials and purchase services where possible and noted insurance and wage pressures. “We have a net 0 budget... which does allow us 45 days plus of expenses,” she said. The superintendent added context about difficult tradeoffs, and the board asked that heavy policy or personnel items come with packet materials in advance to facilitate review.
