Anna Police Department receives Texas law enforcement accreditation

A representative of the Texas Police Chiefs Association presented Anna Police Department with a certificate recognizing voluntary accreditation that required nearly two years of policy and operations work and ongoing compliance requirements.
Jake Sullivan, representing the Texas Police Chiefs Association accreditation program, presented a certificate to the Anna Police Department recognizing attainment of the Texas law enforcement accreditation. Sullivan said the voluntary program assesses compliance with 173 standards covering use of force, civil rights, pursuits, evidence management and operations and that the agency spent nearly two years modifying policies and procedures to meet the standards.
The presenter said the accreditation is "the gold standard for professional law enforcement in the state of Texas" and noted that agencies must maintain continuous compliance and return for another on-site inspection in four years. Council members and the presiding official congratulated the department and pointed to new equipment and a command center demonstration that will be posted online.
