Planning commission approves Discount Tire pad site; applicant says no auto repair or overnight storage

The City of Anna Planning & Zoning Commission recommended approval of a Specific Use Permit for a Discount Tire pad site near the northwest corner of Rosemont Parkway and U.S. Highway 75.
Planning staff described the site as part of the Liberty Hills regional commercial area and recommended approval as submitted. “It is recommended for approval as submitted,” staff said. Juan Vasquez, the civil engineer representing Discount Tire, told the commission the store will only sell, mount and balance tires and wheels and that “there’s no bodywork. There’s no oil. There’s no batteries.” He added the company will not store cars overnight and all service work will be performed inside the building.
Matt Moore, speaking for the master developer DSF Standards, said shared access drives and infrastructure are under review and that the master developer is working to deliver pad sites to retailers once utilities and roads are in place. Commissioners asked about timing and who installs shared drives; staff and the developer said the master developer will construct the internal roads and fire lanes before retailers build out. With no members of the public opposing the request, a motion to approve the SUP passed unanimously.
