Manager reports trade-show outreach, developer meetings and 9% December sales-tax increase

At the March 5 meeting the EDC manager, Miss Siddle, provided a monthly report highlighting business outreach and community events. Siddle said she and a colleague attended the ICSC Red River trade show in San Antonio Feb. 17–19, staffed a booth and held multiple follow-up meetings. "We had a lot of meetings, a lot of people stopping by our booth, really excited to see us there," Siddle said.
Siddle reported 13 real-estate developer meetings, five VRE contacts and four predevelopment meetings during the reporting period. She listed social-media and newsletter activity (five new newsletter subscribers, 14 new LinkedIn followers, four new Instagram followers and 100 new Facebook contacts) and said overall sales tax for December was up 9%. She also noted upcoming events: Anna Career Connections Day for juniors and graduating seniors and a Shirley Farms groundbreaking scheduled for March 24 before the council meeting.
Siddle asked board members to assist in promoting the governor’s small-business summit on April 2 in Allen and to help publicize local small-business outreach. The manager closed the report with a reminder that the monthly newsletter would be distributed and encouraged board members to share the content.
