Staff presented general-area maps identifying potential parkland (tan) and open-space (blue) acquisition targets and explained the criteria used to evaluate parcels: percentage of critical areas on a parcel, ownership status, development status, canopy cover and proximity to walk-shed gaps and trail corridors. Staff emphasized these maps are preliminary and not parcel-boundary-level recommendations.
In a separate update, staff said the Shelton View Forest acquisition request was one of 31 projects selected to move forward in the Trust Land Transfer (TLT) process; staff thanked community partners and noted the project may be ranked in the fall with funding decisions dependent on the state legislature’s long session beginning January 2027. "We were one of 31 projects that were selected to move forward in the process," a staff member said about the Shelton View presentation.
