Parks board recommends City Council adopt updated PROS plan
Summary
At its June meeting the Bothell Parks and Recreation board voted to recommend City Council adopt the updated parks, recreation and open space (PROS) plan, sending the draft on for a July public hearing and final council action.
The Parks and Recreation board voted to recommend the City Council adopt the draft PROS (parks, recreation and open space) plan as presented by staff. A motion to recommend the plan was moved by Manny and seconded by Sheila; the board called aye and the recommendation passed.
Staff framed the meeting as the plan’s adoption stage and walked the board chapter by chapter. A staff presenter said the draft addresses system needs, programming, funding and equity, and that the plan would next go to a public hearing on July 7 and to the council for potential adoption on July 14 before submission to the Recreation and Conservation Office for review. "So this evening we're in the plan adoption stage," a staff member said as the presentation began.
The plan’s chapters cover a system overview, community engagement findings, a walkshed and access analysis, and an implementation chapter with goals, strategies and funding options. Board members praised the consultant’s work and the level of community input the draft reflects. Staff committed to provide board members printed, color copies of the final plan once changes are incorporated and after council action.
