The Finance Committee voted unanimously to forward ordinance 26-16, which authorizes the safety-service director to solicit bids for the 2026 OPWC (State Issue 1 Round 39) South Lake Street rehabilitation project and to award the contract to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
The mayor told the committee the state will contribute $500,000 toward a total project cost of $1,446,000 and that the city’s portion will be "somewhere less than $1,000,000." He said engineering dollars for bidding and construction oversight are included and that the project’s costs will be allocated across several funds. After a brief question about which streets were included, the committee moved the measure to the council floor with urgency; the motion passed 6–0.
