District recognizes students completing United We Heal behavioral-health pre-apprenticeship

District leaders and United We Heal representatives described a pre-apprenticeship that provides high-school students with behavioral-health coursework, college credit and credentialing opportunities.
Laura Nappy, the district CTE coordinator, explained the partnership model: United We Heal manages the pre-apprenticeship and pays Clackamas Community College tuition for courses taken through the college; district CTE teachers and AP psychology instructors support enrolled students. Sarah Rambeck of United We Heal outlined program components including three behavioral-health classes, an asynchronous career training course covering HIPAA, ethics and trauma-informed care, and post‑high‑school pathways such as AmeriCorps and credential apprenticeships.
Rambeck said 21 students have enrolled from the district, three already graduated, three to five are set to graduate in June and about 13 more are expected next school year. Xochitl, a Wilsonville sophomore and the district’s first graduate of the program, told the board it “made me see things way more differently” and that she plans to apply the skills whether she pursues teaching or behavioral-health work.
Board members praised the partnership and encouraged student participants to consider returning to the district as staff in the future.
