Council hears updates on public safety, trees and community events

Mayor Aletha Howes and councilmembers provided a series of routine reports covering public safety, trees and community events.
Highlights included WABA's summer picnic scheduled for July 26 and plans to invite a King County Sheriff's Office representative and possibly Bellevue Fire Department personnel; installation of a 'No Left Turn' sign at 103rd and SE 27th Street; delivery of 12 yards of mulch for Glen Path plantings; and Seattle Tree Care's inspections of cabled Town trees, which found no problems and for which Councilmember Paula Dix requested a written report. Mayor Howes said she has scheduled walk‑throughs with the Interim Fire Marshal so he can learn the Village layout and noted Bellevue Fire's wildfire training, hydrant testing and work to solidify the Bellevue Cares program that can help residents in need.
Mayor Howes also said she will review the state's Complete Streets requirements to determine applicability and potential TIB funding, and she asked the Council to review the PACE survey of the SE quadrant at the September meeting.
