Butler County approved repairs to night beacon assemblies at the Andover radio tower and heard an update on the county paging system.
Emergency Communications Director Jeremy Seglem told the Board Hayden Tower Service inspected the Andover tower and recommended replacing two mid-tower night assemblies and one top-tower night assembly. The work is required to meet Federal Aviation Administration day-and-night lighting standards for towers. The Board approved the Hayden Tower Service quote of $13,500 (motion passed 5-0).
Seglem also reported the county paging system is functioning on a backup system while staff await a Motorola quote to replace the microwave system; the department has also requested a fiber quote. Chadd Pelnar was noted as the new Emergency Communications Radio Administrator. No service outage or extended interruption of paging was reported at the meeting.
The repair work is limited to night-light assemblies and bulbs; staff will return vendor quotes for microwave replacement and any fiber options for future Board consideration.
