Public works staff reported the city winterized the inlet systems for the lake pumps and gave an annual pumped-volume estimate for the year.
Committee member (S7) said crews pulled the inlets and winterized the system. He estimated the crew moved about 161,000,000 gallons this year and noted rodent activity had damaged parts of the pump system in the past, which complicates repairs. Council members asked about comparisons with prior years and the staff member said it was likely the second-highest total since the system was operated.
Council discussed possible mitigation options for rodent damage, including constructing a rock trench to discourage burrowing, and decided to revisit the pump maintenance approach if problems persist.
