Council names Kathy Ward Vernonia’s November citizen of the month

During the mayor's report the council recognized Kathy Ward as Vernonia's November 2025 citizen of the month for her long service as a teacher and community volunteer.
"I chose Kathy Ward for this month's citizen," said Committee member (S5), noting her work with outdoor school, foreign exchange students and organizing senior trips. Ward responded to the recognition in the meeting, describing aspects of her teaching career and fundraising efforts that supported student activities.
Council members thanked Ward for her service and took a photo at the meeting; the mayor and council extended holiday wishes to staff and attendees before moving to the next agenda items.
