The applicant (Resident/Applicant (S7)) said the installation would be donor-funded and maintenance would be the donor's responsibility, adding that "the city is not responsible for any destruction or damage" and that they would personally pay for construction and upkeep. Staff confirmed the proposed bench location is not in an area of the lake known to be a leak point and that an existing city bench nearby would not conflict with the memorial bench's placement.
A motion to move forward with the memorial bench was made, seconded and approved by voice vote with no opposition. The council asked staff to notify the donor of the approval and to treat the bench consistent with existing memorial-bench practices, including outreach to the family if the bench later degrades.
