Summary
After a site visit and Planning Board recommendation (8–1 with 1 abstention), the Board approved the Meadow Point first plat: a 40‑lot, ~201.9‑acre private‑road subdivision with 5‑acre average lot sizes and stream buffers for Dry Creek; neighbors raised DOT and bus‑stop concerns before the vote.

The Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on Sept. 15 to approve the Meadow Point subdivision first plat, following an earlier Planning Board recommendation. The proposed development subdivides roughly 201.9 acres into 40 lots with an average lot size of five acres and minimum lot sizes of three acres because the developer proposes private roads.
Staff confirmed perennial Dry Creek runs along the southern property line and that the 100‑foot stream buffer (or the mapped 100‑year floodplain where larger) will be preserved. Neighbors asked about road improvements, potential school‑bus stops and traffic impacts on NC 87; staff said DOT and the school system had provided input and that road access and permit requirements will be addressed during construction review. The board approved first‑plat review and final engineering approvals will follow county procedures.
