Commissioner Bob Bennett announced he intends to step down after almost 20 years of involvement on multiple committees, including this Public Works & Streets Commission. "I think it's time for me to bow out," Bennett said, explaining that he no longer feels he contributes at the level he would like and that this era of issues has been handed off to the next generation.
Colleagues thanked Bennett for his long service and historical knowledge, with the chair and other members asking him to remain available for occasional questions. The committee discussed informal recognition such as a plaque on a bench and Bennett said he would continue to assist with specific matters as needed.
