Japan named first international partner of Genesis mission; ambassador outlines strategic partnership

Ambassador Yamada, Japan’s ambassador to the United States, reiterated that Japan is the Genesis mission’s first international partner and framed the partnership as a long-term strategic collaboration between the two countries. He said the initiative will unite governments, national laboratories, universities, industry and startups to accelerate scientific discovery.
Yamada said the partnership is about more than funding: “We are building an enduring innovation partnership that will generate scientific innovation and discovery which benefit both our peoples,” he said. He noted that Japan and the United States each committed $500,000,000 to the Genesis mission over the next five years and described an expectation that the joint effort will strengthen economic competitiveness and shared values.
