City public-works staff said the boardwalk project is advancing and highlighted coordination with the local utility (PUD) to provide power for lighting and amenities. "The boardwalk is coming along really good," the staff speaker said, noting plans to remove old light poles and install two street lights—one at the east boardwalk head and a second further toward the west—plus power access for accent lighting.
Committee members asked whether sidewalks to Beach Street would be included in the first phase; staff said the initial installation will be a pathway that converts to boardwalk a short distance past Beach Street with multiple planned phases. Members recommended discussing trail leaders and pedestrian access groups to plan for interim paths or dirt walkways where sidewalks are not yet feasible.
