Rotary asks Wood Village for $500 sponsorship for April pickleball fundraiser and scholarship

Chris Damion, representing the West Columbia Gorge Rotary Club, addressed the council during citizen comments and asked the council to consider a $500 contribution to the club’s April 12 'Paddles with Purpose' pickleball tournament at the East County Pickleball Court facility in Troutdale.
"We make this request tonight for another year of support for $500 or whatever limit the council feels is appropriate in supporting the effort," Damion said, noting the club raised about $2,000 last year and that the Rotary will steward a new Eric Schneider legacy scholarship for Reynolds School District CTE students. Councilors indicated support; staff suggested a thumbs-up would be sufficient to confirm the same $500 amount as the prior year and staff will coordinate check disbursement and sponsorship details with the Rotary.
