The Bee Cave City Council on May 12 unanimously adopted Ordinance No. 604, formally canvassing the returns and declaring the results of the May 2, 2026 joint election for two council members and the mayor.
Joanne Touchstone, the staff contact for the canvass, told the council that "the canvass accounts for every ballot from election day, including mail in ballots, provisional ballots, overseas and military mail in ballots." She cited Title 6, Chapter 67 of the election code and said the canvass period for the May 2 election ran May 5 through May 14. Following the staff explanation, a council member moved to approve Ordinance No. 604, another council member seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
The ordinance adoption makes the election returns official pending any post-canvas statutory remedies. The council did not receive public comment on the canvass during the meeting and took no further action beyond the formal vote.
