Staff: unpermitted electrical, plumbing and structural work make 302 South Lane unsafe

City staff told the Building Standards Commission that 302 South Lane presents hazardous conditions after an inspection found unpermitted electrical, plumbing and structural work. Staff said the house appears to have been involved in a previous fire and that new work "was built on top of wood that's burnt," describing the structure as "obviously not safe or structurally sound."
Staff said a stop-work order remains in place, that an engineer has been requested to design approved plans before work may continue, and that staff will pursue legal remedies as necessary. The commission was told the case will return at the next meeting for a determination of next steps.
