Emergency Services District 1 reports progress, names Allegiant Mobile Health as new EMS provider

Kevin McGillis, president of the newly formed Collin County Emergency Services District No. 1 board, briefed the commissioner’s court on the district’s formation work and near-term priorities. McGillis said the board has been addressing the 17 tasks required when creating an ESD and reported "9 are completed, 8 in work," that the board has retained an ESD law firm and an accounting firm, and that it recently selected Allegiant Mobile Health as the EMS provider for the district.
McGillis said the ESD still needs to finalize a tax rate and budget; the board expects to set those at an August off-site meeting with a follow-up in September. He also told the court the board is negotiating interlocal agreements with local fire-service providers and acknowledged there are outstanding contract issues the ESD must resolve before implementation. Commissioners thanked the board for its work and offered county assistance as the ESD completes contracts and financial planning.
