Council extends debris-removal contract to cover upcoming storm season

Council approved Resolution No. 24-2026 authorizing the city manager to execute a one-year extension of the debris removal contract with DRC Emergency Services LLC, effective July 22, 2026 through July 22, 2027. Staff said the original contract (07/22/2023) included options for two one-year extensions and that exercising the final year will keep debris removal and monitoring contracts synchronized for planned 2027 replacement.
A staff member explained the extension will carry existing pricing and terms and will allow the city to proceed through the upcoming hurricane season without interruption while the city prepares to rebid both contracts in early 2027. Council members voiced support and noted DRC’s performance in prior emergency work; the resolution passed unanimously.
Next steps: staff will advertise and prepare to rebid monitoring/debris-removal contracts in early 2027.
