Council approves specific-use permit for charity bingo hall at 1033 Dixie Drive

The Clute City Council on April 23 approved a specific-use permit to allow a charity bingo hall to operate at 1033 Dixie Drive, after a joint public hearing with the Planning and Zoning Commission.
Jordan Terry, who identified himself as the owner, told the council the business intends to operate six days a week with typical evening hours "between 5 and 10:00" and that "the proceeds will be benefiting 4 local charities" within Brazoria County or nearby. The planning commission recommended approval with the usual stipulations for building safety and parking, and the council voted unanimously to accept that recommendation.
Council members asked about prior experience and operations; Terry said his spouse had been involved in similar operations for roughly 2.5 years. A council member moved to approve the permit "with normal stipulations," the motion was seconded, and the vote was recorded in favor. The SUP contains a nontransferability clause and will take effect as provided in the adopted order.
The council later adopted an ordinance/order formalizing the SUP under the ordinance number cited in the meeting packet. The council’s actions mean Vault Bingo LLC (named in the order in the packet) may proceed after meeting the listed conditions and obtaining any required building or parking approvals.
