Council approves $2.2 million mill‑and‑overlay contract for street maintenance

Public Works staff explained the 2026 pavement maintenance program and recommended awarding the mill‑and‑overlay portion to Texas Materials Group under an interlocal agreement with the City of Fort Worth. "This year, we've budgeted funds for this program and we do expect to complete about 6.5 miles of roadway, during this fiscal year," Jeremy Hutt said.
Hutt said the mill‑and‑overlay contract to be considered covers roughly 5 miles and the recommendation was for a contract amount not to exceed $2,200,000 to allow for roughly 3% contingency above the contractor's original estimate. "We are recommending approval of a contract of 2.2, allowing for roughly 3%, to be used for a contingency," he said, adding that the city has measured streets and is confident in the estimate. Funding for the contract is allocated in the FY2026 operating budget.
Councilmember Warren moved to approve the contract and Mr. Weathers seconded; the council voted unanimously to approve item 8.4.
