Assistant Superintendent Gene Fermi recommended prepaying $140,000 for Edmentum EdOptions Academy courses to support the district's virtual learning option beginning in the 2026–27 school year. He said prepaying gives a significant per-course discount—"knocks the price down per course by 60 to $70"—and estimated prepaid pricing at about $270 per course versus $350 or more otherwise.
Fermi told the board 20 students were already enrolled in the virtual option and he anticipated roughly 25 enrollments per semester in the initial rollout. The board approved the purchase by a 4-0 vote. The administration noted the purchase covers about a two-year usage window: the vendor will draw on the prepaid amount as courses are used, and remaining funds can be used for later enrollments if unused.
