City staff updated council on a long-running wetlands assessment. Staff said the Department of State Lands (DSL) reviewed a draft and produced 37 questions largely addressed to Pacific Habitat, the consultant doing the field work. As of the last draft seen in September, staff reported that 27 of those items had been resolved and 10 remained outstanding and were with Pacific Habitat for a next draft.
Catherine (S9), the staff member leading the project presentation, said DSL has been helpful and that city staff have pushed to accelerate the consultant’s responses. She cautioned that while the city has made progress—calling the past period “faster” than prior years—completion by year’s end is possible but not certain.
Council asked staff to continue follow-up on the 10 remaining items and to provide a checklist of the outstanding questions so the council can monitor progress.
