Chair Mark Sakamoto said the commission expects Cascadia to provide draft language by April–May and emphasized that Cascadia is drafting language based on commission direction rather than imposing policy. “We’re not gonna adopt everything they have necessarily,” Sakamoto said, describing the consultant role as providing text for the commission’s priorities.
A staff member identified as Mary summarized the community survey that accompanied Cascadia’s outreach: 42 respondents, a majority older and retired homeowners, with roughly half broadly supportive of the proposals and the other half unsure or opposed. Mary cautioned the small sample limited statistical reliability and commissioners agreed more outreach — including clearer mapping of affected zones and infrastructure implications such as water and parking — would be necessary before major changes were advanced.
