Yachats orders new Prospect Park signage; Peace Park bench replaced by local artist

Mary Ellen O'Shaughnessy, president of the Yachats City Council, said the city has designed and ordered trail markers, parking signs and interpretive wetland-plant identification signs for Prospect Park to help visitors identify local plants. "Many of you, I'm sure, walked through there and have no idea what the plants are," she said, adding the signs will be a chance to learn those species.
O'Shaughnessy also described replacing a deteriorated bench at Peace Park with a new bench designed by a Seal Rock artist; public works removed the old bench and prepared a concrete pad for the replacement. The Peace Pole remains at the site, and the council encouraged residents to visit the park to see the new installation.
