Board of Public Works votes to recommend 10-year CIP to Common Council
Summary
After a detailed review of street, water, sewer and facility projects, the Board of Public Works voted on a staff recommendation to forward the draft 2027–2036 Capital Improvement Plan to the Common Council for final action.
The Board of Public Works reviewed the draft 10-year Capital Improvement Plan and on a voice vote moved to recommend the staff-recommended plan to the Common Council.
Staff framed the CIP as an eight-section spreadsheet of projects and funding that staff believes balances near-term repairs (water-main and lead-lateral replacements, lift stations, and street resurfacing) with longer-term projects. "The recommendation is to staff recommendation is to approve," staff said while asking the board for a recommendation to the Common Council. After discussion concluded, a motion to recommend the CIP was offered, seconded and carried on a voice vote; the transcript records members saying "aye" with no recorded opposition.
The recommendation will go to the Common Council on August 4 for final review and potential adoption. Staff and division heads who presented projects said some items are grant-dependent and some will return to the board for more detailed presentations, including the garage expansion and Pebble House rehabilitation.
