Sedlemyer Park to get courts, inclusive playground and new restrooms

Mayor Frank Monterrey described a comprehensive revitalization of Sedlemyer Park that will add new sports courts, an inclusive playground and other amenities intended to serve residents of all ages and abilities. "Every element has been thoughtfully designed to ensure that children of all abilities can play together safely and joyfully," he said.
Monterrey credited a $2,000,000 allocation from the Oregon legislature (secured by Representative Leslie Munoz), a $1,000,000 Oregon State Parks local government grant and support from civic groups and local philanthropy including Woodburn Rotary, Moda Health and the Portland Trail Blazers. He said the park plan includes artificial turf surfacing for the playground and lighting for new tennis and pickleball courts to extend usable hours.
