Calvert County honors 12 SkillsUSA state champions headed to 2026 nationals

Calvert County Public Schools and the Board of Education recognized CTA SkillsUSA students who earned top placements at the Maryland SkillsUSA state competition and qualified for nationals. The board read a resolution commending students, advisors and industry partners for their performance; the resolution noted the chapter’s leadership in career and technical student organization activities.
Robin Burns, a lead advisor for the CTA SkillsUSA chapter, introduced the team and credited faculty, business partners and mentors for supporting student success. "These students will go on using the skills taught through co-curricular activities, such as SkillsUSA, regardless of what they choose to pursue after high school," Kayla Jones, the chapter president, said. The resolution recorded 12 first-place state champions who will represent Maryland at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Atlanta in June 2026.
The board moved and approved the resolution during the meeting; trustees applauded the students and advisors for their achievement and wished them success at the national competition.
