Public Works director reports hires, water-leak discovery and community-garden timeline

Wood Village’s public works director reported on recent department staffing and operations: after reviewing more than 90 applications the department interviewed 18 candidates, offered positions to four and those new employees started last week and have already been working in parks.
"I'm I'm Erica," the director said when introduced, adding the team had identified a leak in a hillside near Byway and postponed digging due to weather and the staff's recent start dates. Erica also noted the department is readying the community garden to open by mid-March and is monitoring weather for targeted deicing where necessary.
Council members thanked staff for hiring strong candidates and for monitoring weather-sensitive operations; a councilor noted an out signal light on Maple and a pool light that needs attention and staff acknowledged follow-up.
