"If we can't stand up for the constitution and we're afraid to not, take a stand about the constitution or due process... then the apathy and the neglect of addressing this only makes that kind of behavior normal," one councilor said, urging the council to speak out. Other councilors cautioned that the language should be apolitical and avoid actions the city cannot provide directly, such as legal representation or enforcement changes.
Council members agreed the item was for discussion only tonight and asked staff and the mayor to work on a Wood Village–specific version of the document and return it for further council consideration at a future meeting. No resolution was adopted at this session.
