District places 'From Slavery to Freedom' on 30-day public review for proposed AP African American studies course

Panix said the textbook-selection committee of CCPS educators reviewed materials recommended by the College Board and determined that From Slavery to Freedom aligns with the AP course framework and provides primary sources and scholarship adequate to support inquiry and research skills. "The committee determined that From Slavery to Freedom is an appropriate resource to support instruction in African American studies," Panix said. The board did not require a motion for the posting; staff clarified that the physical text will be available in the board office for public review during the 30-day period.
