Council approved a conditional rezone for a Bowman parcel located west of Bowman Drive to institutional zoning to allow construction of police, street and training facilities.
Sean, staff member on the project, explained the location and the buffering proposed to protect nearby homes: there are wooded buffers on the south and west and approximately five homes on the southeast corner and several on the north corner; the APC added a condition increasing buffering intensity. Council moved and seconded approval of the conditional zoning for item 11.5 and approved it by voice vote.
Staff and council noted that annexation is a separate step and that additional public-notice requirements will accompany annexation. The council also discussed that final design and buffering commitments will be enforced as part of the zoning and annexation process.
