Town Manager Deb Cook said consolidating fleet, water/wastewater, and police training will allow better equipment storage and safer operations. "This will put everything together in a campus format," Cook said.
Chief Grimes emphasized training capacity and operational benefits: "Our personnel are seeing over 120 hours a person on average," he said, noting that a new campus would allow expanded indoor training, more simultaneous sessions and better equipment protection. Residents who spoke urged careful buffering, hours limits for noisy operations and attention to headlight glare; staff and commissioners discussed requiring a buffer above the UDO minimum. The motion to forward a favorable recommendation including a commitment for high‑intensity buffering carried by voice vote.
