The Beaux Arts Village Council directed Town Attorney David Linehan to revise a previously discussed draft no-camping ordinance and present it for a vote at the March council meeting. Council members said they prefer a version more restrictive than the City of Bellevue model that King County Sheriff’s Office staff suggested, citing the village’s unique geography in which nearly all public property borders private yards.
Council discussed enforcement options, including a graduated approach that would start with warnings or referrals on first contact, escalate to trespass orders on second contact and reserve misdemeanor charges as a last step. The council noted the East Link extension opens March 28, 2026, and asked the attorney to craft language familiar to local officers while addressing the town’s privacy and enforcement concerns. Linehan is scheduled to present the amended ordinance and supporting materials at the March 10, 2026 meeting.
