Commission Approves 10‑Acre Mortgage Lot Split on Purity Springs Road

The Butler County Planning Commission voted 5-0 to approve PL 26-09, a mortgage lot split that will create a roughly 10‑acre parcel from a 117+/- acre AG‑80 tract at the southwest corner of SW Purity Springs Road and SW 210th Street in Douglass. Director Toby Stewart told the commission the new lot would be served by a private wastewater system and that rural water is available nearby; electricity is provided by Butler Rural Electric.
Joe Hutchinson of BHC Surveying, representing the owners, described the request as “cut and dry.” Chair Jeff Varner noted the commission’s approval and announced the case will be presented to the Board of County Commissioners on April 28, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. The staff report said no public comments were received for or against the split.
